Rocky Mountain Buffalo Co. is now offering both grass
finished and grass fed grain finished buffalo.
Grass Finished:
Nutritionally it is a proven fact that grass fed buffalo
is the best choice. Lower in calories, higher in omega
3’s.
Our
breeding herd is grass fed, roaming on pastures and
in forest. They have constant access to clean running
spring water. We strive to keep our breeding herd
in as close to a natural social order as possible.
Our animals destined for meat never receive antibiotics.
In a matter of life and death we would give antibiotics
to a breeding animal if necessary, this has only happened
once in the seven years we have raised buffalo. We
are working with other ranchers who raise their animals
in this natural way as well.
In
the winter season the buffalo eat grass and alfalfa
hay. They do receive a very small amount of oats or
barley as a treat. (apx. 8 oz per day) This encourages
them to eat their minerals and and also helps us as
a management tool if we need to move them.
Our meat is available in halves and quarters, cut
and wrapped to order. Harvest begins late November
and continues through winter. This meat is limited
in quantity so it is best to order in advance.
Grass
Fed, Grain Finished:
Most consumers and restaurants want a consistency
in their meat purchases. They want the color and flavor
to be consistent from purchase to purchase. Grass
fed, grain finishing produces this consistency. For
these orders we work with Federal plants and can supply
in larger quantities. These animals also receive no
chemical additives, steroids, hormones, growth stimulants,
animal protein or antibiotics in feed. Though it is
highly unusual, they may have received an antibiotic
shot at some time in their life if necessary.
We offer custom cutting, primal cuts, and a variety
of retail packaging. Below find our current product
list.
We
are working with new FDA export guidelines to bring
our U.S. customers some of the value added products
we serve our local restaurants, lodges, and families.
Be watching for our Natural Gourmet Sausages, Jerky,
and special European style Air Dried Buffalo.
